Effective date: May 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Appealty (“Appealty,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit appealty.com, use the application at app.appealty.com, or otherwise interact with our services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and any other details you supply at signup or in your profile.
- Property information — addresses, parcel numbers, assessment values, property characteristics, photographs, owner names, and any documents you upload (such as Property Record Cards or Form 11 notices).
- Communications — messages you send to support, feedback, and any other correspondence.
- Payment information — if you purchase a paid plan, payment details are processed by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, timestamps, referring URLs, and general activity within the Service.
- Device and log data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, and crash logs.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small data files used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure performance. See our Cookie Policy for details.
1.3 Information from third parties
To produce your appeal analysis we look up public records and third-party real estate data tied to your property (assessor records, recent sales, geographic information). This data is associated with your property and your account.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including computing assessment analyses and generating appeal documents.
- Authenticate users, prevent fraud, and secure the Service.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions.
- Send transactional communications (account notices, password resets, appeal-deadline reminders, delivery of reports you request).
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- Send marketing communications about Appealty (only with your consent where required, and you can opt out at any time).
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, property, or safety of Appealty, our users, or others.
- Analyze usage patterns to debug and improve the Service.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers (sub-processors) — we work with vetted vendors who help us deliver the Service. Current categories include cloud hosting, email delivery, AI inference, payment processing, real estate data, and geocoding. These vendors are contractually bound to use your information only to provide services to us and to protect it appropriately.
- Legal and safety — we may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Appealty, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — if Appealty is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the protections of this Privacy Policy.
- With your direction — for example, when you choose to email a generated report to yourself or a third party.
4. Data Retention
We retain account and property information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account at any time as described in Section 6. Some information may be retained in backups or as required by law after account deletion.
5. Security
We use commercially reasonable technical, administrative, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted credential storage, access controls, and monitored infrastructure. No internet service can be guaranteed to be 100% secure; you use the Service at your own risk and are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update — you can view and update most of your information from within the Service.
- Delete — you can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing support@appealty.com.
- Marketing opt-out — you can unsubscribe from marketing email through the link in any marketing message. Transactional messages (e.g., password resets) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
- Cookies — you can manage cookies through your browser settings (see our Cookie Policy).
- State-specific rights — depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act). To exercise such rights, contact support@appealty.com. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can delete it.
8. International Users
Appealty is operated in the United States. The Service is intended for U.S. residents. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States.
9. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, including county assessor portals and state government resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites. Review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means. The “Effective date” above indicates when this Privacy Policy was last revised.
